We are bringing in changes to the way that the practice undertakes appointments with immediate effect in order to minimise the risk of COVID-19 to patients and staff.

  •        The practice will be strictly reviewing all patient requests via ASKMYGP  - any patient with a pre-booked appointment with a Nurse or HCA will be contacted to be screened before they attend.

 

  • We are only allowing patients to enter the surgery following a telephone triage call by a clinician; they will advise whether you need to come in.

 

  • If needed, we will offer you a face-to-face consultation after the telephone assessment but this is not guaranteed and will be down to individual clinical assessment. All appointments will be at Oaklands Surgery, Birchfield Road until further notice.

 

  •       If you have been offered one of these face-to-face consultations please be aware that you will be screened again on arrival.

Many conditions are able to be safely dealt with during a telephone appointment.

RESCUE PACKS - We are currently not issuing ‘rescue packs’ in the form of just-in-case steroid and antibiotics unless you are known to have severe COPD or severe asthma and have had these before. Currently routine respiratory reviews will not be undertaken face to face but by phone to minimise unnecessary contact.

Please help us to help you - the easiest and fastest way to ask for any kind of help is with askmyGP.

  • It's available 24/7 - we respond in working hours, 8am and 5pm Monday and Friday, 8am and 3.30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

  • Due to the high level of demand we will endeavour to respond to requests as quickly as possible hopefully within 48 hours(2 working days), if the request is deemed as urgent it will be dealt with that day. Please be aware it could be longer if the issue is for a GP due to the large demand currently.

  • All our registered patients are welcome, and as a parent or carer you can use askmyGP on behalf of a patient

  • You can choose a particular named GP if you wish (so long as they are working that day)

  • You may prefer a telephone or email response and choose Oaklands or Yeovil Health Centre

Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot keep an appointment.

Please be aware that appointments that are not attended waste the doctors and nurses time and also there are other patients that could have made use of those appointments. If patients repeatedly do not attend, without a valid excuse they will be removed from the practice list.

Please be prompt.  If you are 10 minutes late you will be asked to make a new appointment so that other patients are not inconvenienced.  Please make the receptionist aware if you feel your problem is urgent

Please remember one appointment is for one person only.

If you are over 75 and have not been seen within the last year, or between16 and 75 years and have not been seen within the last three years you may request a consultation with either the nurse or a doctor.
